This is a comprehensive list of upcoming and recurrent programs for adults. Online registration is offered via web calendar. You may also register in-person, or by phone at 815-786-8308. Registration is not required for programs unless noted; however, you may choose to register for any program if desired.

Please note: If programs that require registration do not reach minimum capacity 48 hours before scheduled date, the program may be cancelled. If such a situation occurs, you will be notified by phone prior to original program time.

SEPTEMBER EVENTS

National Library Card Sign Up Month
All month
September is National Library Card Sign-up Month! If you renew or register for a Sandwich library card anytime throughout the month of September, you will be entered into a special drawing for a FREE gift basket containing library themed goods. Please note that you must live within the Sandwich Library District lines to in order to be eligible for a Sandwich Public Library card. Call ahead or visit the library to make sure you qualify.

Banned Books Week - Program Info
September 24th – 30th
Banned Books Week is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read. – American Library Association.
Celebrate your freedom to read during Banned Books Week! Check out multiple displays on banned books, learn about books that have been challenged this year, and enter to win a raffle containing three books that have been banned and/or challenged in the past.

Emergency Preparedness - Program Info
September 21st @ 1:00PM:
Celebrate Emergency Preparedness month by learning how to properly and effectively prepare for emergencies with Dekalb County Health Department’s own Melissa Edwards Attendees will receive a starter emergency preparedness kit for participation! There will be a fifteen minute lecture followed by an interactive tutorial on how to manage materials. No registration required.

Energy of Stones - Program Info
September 22nd @ 1:00PM:
Celebrate the Autumn Equinox at the library by learning about the healing properties of crystals and stones with professional Michaela Hasko. Michaela is the owner of the spiritual store Consciously Rooted and is professionally trained on the healing properties of stones and crystals. No registration is required.

Adopt-A-Pet - Program Info
October 7th @ 1:00PM:
The Paws & Purrs Humane Society will be bringing adoptable kittens to the library! Consider adopting a homeless pet and provide them with a furr-ever home. No registration is required.

Mobile Escape Room - Program Info
October 9th @ 4:30PM (Teens) & 5:30PM (Adults):
Can you escape the locked room? Test your skills in this Mobile Escape Room! Teen escape starts at 4:30pm. Adult escape starts at 5:30pm.

Spooky Sandwich: Feat. Midwest Ghost Society - Program Info
October 14th @ 1:00PM:
The Midwest Ghost Society is visiting the library to share some spooks! Come enjoy a special presentation on the Society’s explorations and experiences with local Sandwich haunts! It’s a perfect way to kick-off the Halloween season. No registration required. Light refreshments will be available.

Healthcare Seminar - Program Info

Join professional financial advisor, Matt Evans, for a presentation on post-retirement healthcare options and benefits. Program created for the retired senior audience. No registration required.

Library Spooktacular! - Program Info
October 21st @ 12:00PM:
Celebrate the spooky season with the whole family at the library! Enjoy spooky pictures at a photo booth, a creepy craft, pumpkin painting and more. If you plan on pumpkin painting, please bring your own pumpkin. All other materials are included. Fun for all ages! No registration required.

Spooky Showtime - Program Info
October 30th @ 2:00PM:
Start Halloween early by kicking back and enjoying a special Halloween-themed movie about a spooky Halloween-esque town. Popcorn included. No registration required. Fun for all ages.

Feeling crafty? Come to the library to spend time with great people creating new, and fun crafts for you to keep! Craft themes change every month. All materials are provided for you unless otherwise noted. The program is free, but registration is required. There are only 10 spots available every month, so be sure to register early.
