This is a comprehensive list of upcoming and recurrent programs for adults. Online registration is offered via web calendar. You may also register in-person, or by phone at 815-786-8308. Registration is not required for programs unless noted; however, you may choose to register for any program if desired.

Please note: If programs that require registration do not reach minimum capacity 48 hours before scheduled date, the program may be cancelled. If such a situation occurs, you will be notified by phone prior to original program time.

You Can Brew It! Homebrewing Basics
October 16TH | 6:30PM
Do you enjoy good quality craft beer? Home brewing is a fun and rewarding hobby that is enjoyed by millions of people all over the world. Award winning home brewer Scott Pointon will discuss the equipment, ingredients, brewing process, and resources available to would-be brew masters. Be sure not to miss it! There will be no tastings at this event.

Computer Maintenance
October 19TH | 11AM | 5 SPOTS | $10
Learn how to maintain and take care of your computer to keep it running efficiently. Class has 5 openings and computers will be provided for participants. Class costs $10 to participate. Payment is due at time of registration and must be made in person. Cash/Check only. Checks payable to Sandwich Public Library District. Registration opens two weeks before event.

History of Halloween
October 23RD | 7PM
Join presenter Mike McCann and discover all about the history of Halloween during the spooky season. Co-hosted with the Sandwich Park District, this program is sure to be spooky fun.

Mental Health First Aid
October 26th | 9pm – 5pm
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an 8-hour course that teaches how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use disorders. Program is coordinated by Northwestern Medicine & DeKalb County Community Mental Health Board and is open to the public! Be sure not to miss this valuable course.

Adult Painting Class
October 30th | 5:30pm | $10
Join Michelle Shepard from the Petite Palette for a special Halloween-themed adult painting class! There are only ten available spots, so be sure to register early! Class costs $10. Payment must be made at time of registration; cash or checks. Checks should be made payable to Sandwich Public Library.

 

RECURRING PROGRAMS

Adult Craft Night
1st Tuesdays |  6:30pm
Feeling crafty? Come to Adult Craft Night!  All materials will be provided. The program takes place the first Tuesday of every month. Ages 16+. Registration is required and available online or at the library. There are only ten open spots due to material provisional restraints, so make sure to register early! Registration required. Register in-person, by phone, or online by visiting our calendar event page. Note: you must register for each individual craft night session.

Chess Club (NEW!)
3rd Thursdays | 1pm
Challenge your peers with a good, old-fashioned game of chess. Group is open to all skill levels. There is no instruction. Just come on in, find a seat and start playing. Three chessboards will be provided, but feel free to bring your own!

Reader's Haven Book Club
2nd Tuesdays | 6:30pm
3rd Wednesdays | 1pm
Come enjoy a lively discussion about the month’s club pick! Copies of the club books are available in regular, large print, and audio formats to everyone. Walking Wednesdays (NEW!)
Wednesdays | 10am – 11am
Get outside, get some exercise and enjoy the fresh air! Join us for a weekly walk with your neighbors and friends around town. There must be at least three attendees for program to run. Group will not meet if raining or temperature is below 45°.
