BUILDING ENTRY

  • Bathrooms
    - Bathrooms are locked, but available upon request for patrons in need.
    - Bathrooms are deep cleaned once daily. Use at your own discretion.

  • Browsing
    - Browsing is permitted. 
    - Patrons are requested to sanitize before and after browsing. Hand sanitizing stations provided at various places around the library. 
    - Any unwanted and touched items should be placed in the appropriately labeled bins for staff to sanitize prior to re-shelving.

  • Indoor Material Return
    - Indoor materials return is closed.
    - Library staff will not accept returns directly.
    - All returned items must be placed in outside book drop.
    - All returned items will be quarantined for 3 full days prior to check-in. 

  • Patrons
    - Permitted to visit the library for 1 hour, with no lingering for safety precautions.
    - Requested to sanitize hand upon entry.
    - Required to maintain proper social distancing protocols as enforced by the State government. 
    - Patrons will not make any physical contact with any library employee.  
    - Masks
          - Patrons and staff are required to wear masks at all times.
          - For those unable to wear a mask inside, we ask that you remain outside and staff will accommodate your needs.
    - Patrons are requested to leave personal bags for items at home. The library will provide a bag if needed. 

  • Programming
    - There will be no indoor programming, but outdoor and virtual programming will continue.

  • Room Use
    - Public meeting room, children's playroom, study rooms and public seating remain closed. 

 

SERVICES

  • Book Lockers | All hours
    - If library service times do not work with your schedule, please call the library at 815-786-8308 to set up a book locker retrieval.
    - Your items will be checked out to your account and placed in a book locker. The book locker is accessible next to the book drops. Enter in your code (provided by staff member) and your locker will open for you to retrieve your items. 

  • Computers
    - Available for 45 minute increments beginning at the top of the hour.
    - Schedule a time to use the computer in advance to ensure your spot. Call or email the library to schedule.
    - Walk-ins may use an open computer if one is available, but will be logged off at the end of the originally scheduled 45 minute time slot.
    - NOTE: staff will not assist with computer aid to maintain proper social distancing guidelines.

  • Copy/Scan/Fax
    - Services will resume indoors.
    - Staff will sanitize copier regularly. 

  • Curbside Pickup 
    - Patrons will be notified when holds are ready for pick up. Please drive to the library, park and call us. An employee will come greet you and proceed to acquire holds. Patrons are requested to open trunk from inside vehicle where holds will be placed by an employee.  

  • Donations
    - The library will not be accepting any donations until further notice.

  • Home Delivery | Deliveries : 11am - 4pm Mondays & Wednesdays | Pickups: 11am - 4pm Tuesdays & Thursdays
    - Home delivery services are only available to patrons whom are permanently home-bound due to illness, disability, or age.

    - Patron must be available at residence in order to receive delivery/pick-up services at agreed upon times in order to ensure the safety of library materials from theft and environmental conditions.

  • Material Bundle Requests

    Don't know what you want? We got you! Fill out one of the material bundle request forms below and a staff member will gather some materials for you. We'll call you when the bundle is ready for pick-up.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

We reserve the right to refuse service to patrons who do not respect the library's safety precautions.

  • Masks are required to be worn by all patrons and staff while in the building. If you cannot wear a mask due to medical reason or otherwise, you will still not be allowed entry into the building. However, staff will accommodate any library service needs conducive to this situation.

  • Drinking fountains will be closed.

  • Patrons requested to sanitize hands upon entry, prior to computer use, and before/after browsing for materials.

  • Any monetary transactions will be cashless until further notice. Transactions will be conducted via credit/debit card or added as a fine to patron account. If the patron has no library account, no monetary-dependent service will be provided. 

  • Circulation desk will be sanitized after each patron interaction.

  • In-door materials return is closed. All items should be returned to outside book drop where they will be processed safely and quarantined for 3 days before check-in. 

  • Staff will have their temperatures taken prior to entering the building before every shift and continually wash their hands throughout each shift.

  • Circulation desk will be sanitized after each patron interaction. 

  • The building will be deep cleaned daily with CDC-approved disinfectants.

A Committee Meeting of the Sandwich District Library Building & Grounds Committee will be held on Tuesday, June 16th at 2:00PM at the Sandwich Public Library, 925 South Main Street, Sandwich, Illinois.

A  Regular Board Meeting of the Sandwich District Library Board of Trustees will be held on Tuesday, June 9th at 6:30PM via the virtual Zoom platform.
