All residents and property owners within the Sandwich Public Library District are eligible for a free library card. These cards can be used at other libraries, such as Somonauk, Plano, Yorkville, DeKalb, etc. Please provide two forms of ID for proof of current address when applying for a library card. A library card may be issued to a child of any age. Patrons under age 18 require a parent or guardian present to sign. Parents are responsible for fines or fees charged for materials for children under the age of 18. Parent signature is required for children under the age of 18 to use library computers.

A library card allows you to:

  • Check out books, movies, audiobooks, music and other materials
  • Reserve materials from other libraries
  • Use the library computers

List of Accepted IDs, please note TWO forms of ID are required.

  1. Photo ID: Driver’s License, State ID, U.S. Passport, Permanent Resident Card, U.S. Military ID
  2. First Class Mail: Credit card bill, Utility bill, Healthcare card (i.e. Medicare & All Kids), Mortgage, Vehicle registration, Current voter’s registration card

Library cards are FREE for the initial card. Replacement of a lost card is a $3.00 charge even if expired.
